Eastcote Pays Tribute To Fallen Soldier

Following the shocking and tragic attack on soldier, Lee Rigby, in Woolwich last week, Eastcote locals have been paying their own tribute at Eastcote war memorial.

Bouquets of flowers were laid at the foot of the memorial on Field End Road, many of which had hand written cards attached.

Jeff Duley, chairman of the Royal British Legion - Eastcote Branch said, "This is a wonderful act by local residents".

It is not thought that Lee Rigby had any connection with Eastcote, but there is a rich local military history, including the former RAF site once based in Lime Grove and RAF Northolt just a few miles away. One thing is clear however, Eastcote residents have reaffirmed the pride and gratitude they have in our armed forces.
