Following a rousing local community petition, new owners 'Mosaic Pub & Dining' have confirmed that they will not be renaming The Case is Altered.

Local residents were rejoicing today to learn that victory had been achieved, when over 1100 residents added their names to a petition blocking the proposed name change to the centuries old village pub.

Following the presentation of the petition today, local resident and petition starter Greg Tanner, posted an announcement on the petition today.

Steeped in history, and loved by many The Case is Altered is a charming village pub which has served Eastcote residents for centuries. Now new owners are proposing to rename this great community pub.

As many will know, 'The Case' is currently closed for an extension and renovation by its current owners. The inevitability of such changes isn't being challenged and, indeed, the owners City Inns Ltd have many properties that have retained their original character as much as possible. However, the new owners are planning to change the name of this unusually named pub that is almost 200 years old.

Many residents have voiced their concerns, with one writing to the new owners to ask them to reconsider the change. City Inns Ltd responded in detail:

Important Met Line Closures

From Monday 16 May until late 2018 the Metropolitan line will close earlier than normal between Aldgate and Wembley Park. From approximately 22:00 on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays track and drainage work will be taking place between Baker Street and Finchley Road.

RAF Eastcote Commemorated

Pembroke Park was the focus of the local community this morning, as a commemorative plaque was unveiled to mark the history of the site as a former RAF Outstation.

The community turned out in force today to watch the mayor reveal the plaque, erected to inform residents and visitors of Pembroke Park's history.

Chris Groom, Chair of Eastcote Residents' Association, explained the history of the site as a strategic RAF base and an outstation of Bletchley Park, which is renowned for its code breaking efforts during WWII.

Police Issue Crime Prevention Advice

The Met Police have issued advise to residents reminding them to secure their properties at this time of year.

As the nights draw in, and darkness sets in earlier, the Metropolitan Police have offered advice to residents to help prevent crime and reduce burglaries.

Hillingdon's Sgt Chris Kerr provided the following advice and links, which we recommend residents to take notice of to avoid becoming a victim this winter.
